Register on the FastTrack Portal to Manage your Migration.

This section covers how to set up your FastTrack portal registration to learn, create, and schedule migration events using the FastTrack Migration Hub. This section assumes that you qualify for the FastTrack Migration Benefit by possessing 500 valid M365 licenses in your organization and you have configured the proper prerequisites for your migration type.

Register on the FastTrack Portal

In this task, we will be registering with the FastTrack Portal to establish a working area for members of your migration project team to manage your migration project through the FastTrack Migration Hub.

  1. Sign in with your credentials:
  2. On the Microsoft FastTrack Registration page, complete your profile:

Add Team Members

In this task, you will be adding Team Members to your FastTrack Portal instance. You have two types of team members, a Migration Team which consists of members of your immediate team who are assisting in this migration project and Outside of Migration Team Members which can be partners, Microsoft employees, or any other person who is assisting with the migration in a partner capacity.

FastTrack Migration Support team will add the appropriate permissions for your new team members. Until this task is complete, you newly added team members will not be able to view the Migration Project Card which you will create in the next section.

Create a Migration Project

In this task, you will create a migration project, this is the genesis of your project management tool within the FastTrack Portal. Within the FastTrack Migration Hub, you will manage.

  1. Under the Create a new Migration Project dialogue:
  2. Answer the following questions under Project setup.
    1. Select Yes For the question, Do you want to move your file permissions? Yes is selected by default.
    2. For the Do you want to move hidden files question, select No. It is already selected for this interactive guide experience by default.
      FastTrack recommends that you do not migrate hidden files.
  3. Project Card will be created.

Manage your Project Card

Manage Recipients

In this task, you will manage the emails of those individuals in your organization that have a vested interest in the migration project. This can include stakeholders, department heads, and project members. These individuals will receive notifications about migration progress as you schedule and update various migration events.

  1. On the Manage recipients page do the following:

Manage Credentials

In this task, you will provide the FastTrack Migration team with credentials to access your M365 tenant. This account must be SPO Administrator. This will allow our Migrators to access your Migration Manager Admin center to manage migration tasks and troubleshoot any issues should they arise.

Manage permissions map

In this task (optional), you will provide a mapping file to map permissions from your source environment to M365. This will facilitate that permissions are migrated with your data.

Add a Migration Event

In this task, you will be scheduling a migration event. This step assumes that you have configured your prerequisites given your migration type. In the File Share scenario, you will need to have your Migration Manager Agents configured in your local environment which have access to both the File Shares (minimum read access) and access to your M365 SPO tenant (read and write access).

    1. Click in the Event Name textbox and type FileShare Migration , then hit Enter.
    2. Event Type is selected as Synchronization by default and that is what we will use for the purpose of this interactive guide.
    3. Time Zone is already set to U.S. Central time zone (GMT -6)

This migration event will kick off at your designated time. You can schedule as many migration events as you would like. Please consult your migration plan for the appropriate schedules and times.

Review your Migration Results

In this task, you will be reviewing your migration events migration results. The FastTrack Migration benefit provides migration reporting natively within the FastTrack Migration Hub. These reports are meant to provide a quick summary report of the progress of your migration by Migration event. If you would like more detailed reports, you can download reports via the Migration Manager Admin Center.
